CBI brought fugitive Nirav Modi’s close aide Subhash Shankar from Egypt

CBI has arrested a close aide of fugitive Nirav Modi accused of cheating Punjab National Bank (PNB) of thousands of crores from Egypt (Egypt). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team has brought the person caught in the capital Cairo to Mumbai. Now the investigating agency will demand custody by presenting him in the court.

In fact, fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi are accused of cheating Punjab National Bank by taking a loan of about Rs 13,000 crore. Nirav Modi had fled to London. After this, the court of London ordered to put him in the jail there. India’s investigative agency is constantly trying to bring him back to the country. Britain’s Westminster Magistrates’ Court has ordered to extradite Nirav Modi to India. But some issues are being discussed regarding the facilities provided to him in the jail of India.

Subhash Shankar, a close aide of the arrested Nirav Modi, has been arrested from Cairo, the capital of Egypt. CBI has brought him to Mumbai on Tuesday morning. Subhash Shankar was on the run since the case was registered in 2018. He was hiding in Cairo, Egypt. Now he will be produced in the CBI court in Mumbai and demand for custody will be made.

Brother-in-law became a government witness

Let us tell you that earlier Nirav Modi’s brother-in-law Mayank Mehta and his wife Purvi had promised to give important information to the ED in the ongoing investigation against Nirav Modi. He had become a government witness and the court quashed all non-bailable warrants issued against Mehta.

The court had issued these warrants against the Mehta couple in 2018. Mehta was allowed to become a government witness after giving all the information related to the case to the ED and the whereabouts of all the people and relatives associated with it. Mehta feared that he would be arrested as soon as he came to India. But only after the assurance of the court, Mehta returned to India and agreed to cooperate in the investigation and give all the information to the ED.
