Uttarakhand / Haldwani : Police chased youths from Gaula barrage and Amritpur

On Monday, the police became alert about the accident at Corbett Falls. The police dispersed the people roaming in the Kathgodam Gaula barrage and the river. Similarly, the police returned the occupants of the vehicles going towards Amritpur river.
A large number of youths had come to the Kathgodam Gaula barrage to take a bath on Monday morning. The youths were driven away by the Jal Police after interrogation. Similarly women and youths came to take bath in Gaula river in the afternoon. On the instructions of Kathgodam SHO Pramod Pathak, the police team drove everyone away. People packed their clothes and went back. The police warned that it is forbidden to go to the Gaula river to take a bath. The barrage is very deep. In this barrage, on the day of Holi, the inspector of the police station died due to drowning. At that time another person was somehow saved.
Police stopped from going towards Amritpur river
A large number of people came on four wheelers and two wheelers to bathe in the Amritpur river. Traffic inspector Rakesh Mahara posted here immediately returned the four wheeler and two wheeler riders. The police said that if anyone goes into the river forcibly, action will be taken against them. Many youths have drowned earlier while taking bath in Amritpur. Local people have also protested against the district authorities for bathing in the river.
Complaint will be received but no action will be taken
After the incident of drowning of two youths in Corbett Fall, the family members are blaming the negligence of the people of forest department for the incident. In this case, SSP Pankaj Bhatt says that the police will take legal action after receiving a written complaint from the family members.
