Will Gandhi’s picture be removed from the notes? RBI denied

The news of printing pictures of Mahatma Gandhi as well as great men like Rabindranath Tagore and APJ Abdul Kalam on Indian currency rupee notes is wrong. The Reserve Bank (RBI) on Monday denied the news going on for two days in this regard in many sections of the media. The Central Bank made it clear that there is no change in the existing Indian currency.

Reserve Bank issued this statement

There were reports that the Reserve Bank (RBI) is preparing for major changes regarding the Indian currency. It was being told that soon the pictures of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and the country’s 11th President APJ Abdul Kalam can be seen on the notes. In a brief statement, the Reserve Bank said, “There are reports in certain sections of the media that the Reserve Bank is considering changes in the existing currency and banknotes by replacing the picture of Mahatma Gandhi with the photographs of other great personalities.” It may be noted that there is no such proposal with the Reserve Bank.

Earlier, it was being told in the news that the Finance Ministry and the Reserve Bank may soon consider using the pictures of Tagore and Kalam in the new series of some notes. While Tagore is counted among the greatest litterateurs of India, former President Kalam is called ‘Missile Man of India’. If this was the case, then for the first time any other great person other than Mahatma Gandhi would get a place on the Indian rupee notes.

It was claimed in the news that the Reserve Bank and the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India have sent two different sample sets to Honorary Professor Dilip T Shahani of IIT Delhi, in which photographs of three great men have been printed. The professor is asked to choose one set from the two. The set that the professor will choose will be placed before the government for final consideration.

There have been such speculations before

The demand has been raised in India from time to time that as there are pictures of various great men of America on different notes of Dollar (USD), similarly in India also, pictures of great men other than Gandhi were printed on different notes. Go. However, this is not the first time that there have been reports that the Reserve Bank is considering using photographs of great men other than Mahatma Gandhi. However, after the official statement of the Reserve Bank came, all the speculations have come to an end again.
