Uttarakhand / Roorkee : Farmers held the engineers of Energy Corporation hostage
Troubled by the problem of frequent power cuts and low voltage, the farmers took the Executive Engineer and Assistant Engineer of the Energy Corporation hostage on Thursday. The farmers alleged that the energy corporation has become unbridled. There is a power cut of eight to ten hours in the countryside. Due to low voltage, even the tubewells of the farmers are not running, due to which there is resentment among the farmers. The crop is on the verge of ruin. Earlier, the farmers took out a procession in the city demanding demands and staged a sit-in at the office of the Executive Engineer.
On Thursday, a large number of farmers gathered in the administrative building of Roorkee under the leadership of Padam Singh Road, state president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) road faction. After this, raising slogans in the form of a procession, the farmers reached the office of the Executive Engineer located near Malakpur Chungi via Civil Lines. After this the farmers started dharna here. State President of BKU Padam Singh Road said that today the power supply system from the city to the countryside has been completely derailed. In rural areas, there is power cut for eight to ten hours. Irrigation crisis has arisen. Due to lack of rain, farmers’ crops have reached the verge of ruin. Apart from this, false electricity theft cases are being written against the farmers by the corporation, which will not be tolerated under any circumstances. District President Nazim Ali said that today everyone is upset due to the arbitrary attitude of Consumer Energy Corporation. Executive Engineer Nandita Agrawal and Assistant Engineer Sajal Kumar, who reached the strike site to talk to the farmers, were taken hostage by the farmers. The talks between the farmers and the officials continued for several hours. Later it was agreed that the problem of the farmers would be resolved soon. On this occasion Manoj Sharma, Mahmood, District Vice President Mubarik Ali, State President of Youth Wing Sanjeev Kushwaha, Randhir Saini, Acharya Ghanshyam Das etc. were present. Farmers fed food to office officials, workers

Warning of demonstration with cattle
Padam Singh Road, the state president of the Bhakiyu Road faction, warned that if the farmers’ problems are not resolved, the farmers will stage a sit-in demonstration with the cattle at the Energy Corporation’s office. Along with this, the officers will also be taken hostage.
