Uttarakhand / Karnprayag : The rock fell on the car passing through the Karnprayag-Gwaldam highway, couple died

With the onset of monsoon, the accidents related to landslides have increased in Uttarakhand. On Sunday, a car got buried under a rock that broke off the hill near Bagoli on the Karnprayag-Gwaldam National Highway. The couple in the car has died tragically. The administration and police personnel carried out a rescue operation by removing the rock from the top of the car with the help of JCB and took out the bodies of the couple. The incident has caused a wave of mourning in the entire Pindar Ghati.

Amit Kumar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Karnprayag said that an Alto car was going from Dehradun to Kulsari Mata at around 2.45 pm on Sunday. During this, a huge rock fell from the hill on top of the car going towards Narayanbagad 200 meters ahead of Shiva temple in Bagoli. In the accident, the car completely collapsed and Balvir Singh (45) and his wife Savitri Devi (40), residents of Matta village in Kulsari area, died tragically on the spot.

Police said that as the boulder was heavy, a JCB machine was called on the spot and the boulder was removed with the help of local people. After that both the bodies were taken out and sent to Government Sub-District Hospital Karnprayag with the help of ambulance. It is being told that the deceased couple was coming from Dehradun to their home Kulsari Matta. Tehsildar Surendra Singh Deo said that both the dead bodies of the deceased in the accident have been brought to Karnprayag for post-mortem. As soon as the information was received, the relatives of the deceased reached Karnprayag. Balveer Singh has a government cheap gulle shop in the village itself, while his wife Savitri Devi was an Anganwadi worker. It is being told that both of them had gone to Dehradun to visit their children.
