Although big claims are made about health facilities in Uttarakhand, but the condition of the health system of the state is very bad. Whether it is the hill districts or the capital Dehradun, the same situation is seen everywhere. The system has collapsed in Doon Medical College, Dehradun’s largest government hospital. Talking about women’s hospital, news of lack of facilities here often makes headlines. Pregnant women are facing a lot of problems. Due to lack of adequate beds in the women’s hospital, pregnant women had to spend the night in the verandahs outside the wards.
There are about 60 to 70 beds in Labor Room, ANC, PNC, Surgical, Post Surgical and OT in Dehradun’s Women’s Hospital. Such a situation is seen when the number of admitted patients increases. Mussoorie resident Vinita told that she had come here last 4-5 days ago but she could not get the bed till now. He also said that the staff here works negligently. There should be facilities for women in government hospitals.
