Uttarakhand / Haldwani : Relatives protested due to non-disclosure of sandalwood massacre, clashes with police
Angered by the non-disclosure of the sandalwood massacre of Goniaro village of Bhimtal police station area, the villagers reached Haldwani and demonstrated vigorously against the police-administration in Buddha Park. The villagers have also raised questions on the working style of the police. During this, the villagers also had a scuffle with the police.
The villagers who reached Haldwani to protest told that on June 1, Chandan had gone out from Goniaron village to take his wife towards his in-laws’ house, but he did not reach his in-laws’ house. On June 6, Chandan’s body was found in Dungri, a village near the in-laws’ house. Chandan’s body was scorched by acid. Initially the Revenue Police was investigating the Chandan murder case, but due to the gravity of the matter and pressure from the villagers, the case was transferred to the Civil Police.
Villagers say that the police have not yet been able to disclose this case. That’s why his anger is increasing. The relatives say that the police is constantly saying the same thing that they will soon reveal the Chandan murder case, but so much time has passed and the hands of the police are completely empty. Along with this, the relatives of the deceased are being misled.
The protesters tried to march to the SSP’s office, but the police did not allow them to proceed. During this, there was a fierce fight between the police and the protesters. In this case, SSP Pankaj Bhatt says that the whole matter is being investigated seriously. After interrogating the suspects, no prime suspect was found, so now the police is conducting a polygraph test of three suspects. The police will soon unveil this entire incident.
