Uttar Pradesh : 32 people still missing, three bodies recovered, NDRF and STRF have taken care of the front
Despite the Ken and Yamuna river being in spate in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, the administration did not become alert. No lessons were learned from the boat capsizing incidents in the last years. There was no arrangement for diving. The negligence of the administration became heavy on Thursday. A boat full of 50 people capsized. Three died in this. 32 are still missing. Three bodies have been recovered. Three bikes and six cycles were also kept in the boat.
However, the administration is admitting that 17 people are missing. 15 people swam and came out. Let us inform that in May, the DM had given instructions in the meeting related to the preparations for the floods. This too was not followed anywhere. Boats and steamers etc. were not arranged on the river ghats, nor was any warning board installed on rising water level.
There have been many incidents before
Hundreds of people come by crossing the Ken and Yamuna rivers in the district. In 1995, six people were killed when a boat capsized on the Yamuna river in the same Marka area. At the same time, in 2019, five people drowned when a boat capsized in the Ken river in Khaptian, in which two people including the sailor were rescued, three died. Even after this, there have been many small incidents of boat capsizing, but the officers did not take any lesson.
Jal Shakti Minister and DIG also reached
Jal Shakti Minister Ramkesh Nishad reached Marka. He directed the officials to make all possible efforts to trace the missing people. Condoled the death of three people. On the other hand, DIG Vipin Mishra reached Marka and instructed to increase the number of divers and to deploy the team of SDRF. Said that no stone should be left unturned in the search of the missing people.
Sisters were going to tie rakhi to brothers
Most of the women were on the boat. Women and people from Samgra village had reached Marka Ghat on the occasion of Rakshabandhan festival. Three bikes and six cycles were kept on the boat. As soon as it reached the middle stream in the Yamuna river, the boat got unbalanced and overturned. As soon as the information was received, a huge crowd of people gathered around. The relatives of the people on the boat also came. There was an uproar on getting the information about the missing of loved ones.
In the blink of an eye, the boat sank into the water
Ramkaran and Sunil, who swam from the river, told that they were going from their village to get their in-laws tied Rakhi with their wife. When we reached the bank of the river, there was only one boat. It was around 3.10 pm, there was a large crowd of people crossing the river. Seeing about 50 people boarded the boat and three bikes and six cycles were also kept on the boat.
At the same time, Brijrani and Geeta Devi told that as soon as the boat reached the middle of the stream, it started staggering. Meanwhile, in the blink of an eye, the boat sank into the water. KP Yadav, who escaped, told that he was going to Lucknow to tie rakhi to his sister, for this he boarded a boat. He managed to come out of the river with the help of bamboo from the middle stream.

Bodies recovered at a distance of 200 meters
Divers recovered the three bodies from the river bank, 200 meters from the spot. Apart from this, 32 passengers are still missing. Divers have been deployed to search for the missing people. District Magistrate Anurag Patel said that SDRF teams have been called from Prayagraj and Lucknow.
Overnight relief and rescue work
Generators etc. have been kept on the river ghat for illumination. Three ambulances have been called. The team of doctors has also reached. The SP said that most of the women were in the boat. Here, as soon as the information is received, former MLA Rajkaran Kabir, District Panchayat President Sushil Kumar and people of various political parties have reached. All the people are praying for the missing people.

Had the bridge been built, people’s lives would have been saved
The villagers have been demanding the construction of a bridge over the Marka Ghat for a long time. Principal representatives Mulayam Singh Yadav, Suresh Yadav, Sugar Singh say that from the time of the BSP government, bridges were passed on the Yamuna river in Augasi and Marka. Their construction work is going on. The Augassi bridge has been built. At the same time, only 70 percent of the bridge of Marka has been built so far due to budget etc. Villagers say that due to the neglect of the government, the work of the bridge has not been completed on time. Had the bridge been built, people’s lives would have been saved.
This was a painful accident, three deaths were confirmed

Relief and rescue work underway, sailor brought to the scene
A 30-member NDRF and STRF team has reached the spot. Seven boats of NDRF have started searching for the missing people in the river. Senior officers including the area officer are present on the spot. Also, the police has reached the spot with the boatman and the whole incident is being understood from him. At the same time, according to the ANI agency, the search for 17 missing people is going on.
CM expressed grief, instructions to give relief amount of Rs 4 lakh per deceased
CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief. The Chief Minister has directed the team of DM Anurag Patel, DIG Vipin Mishra, NDRF and SDRF to go to the spot immediately. Condoling the loss of life in the accident, he expressed his condolences to the bereaved families. The Chief Minister has directed the team of District Magistrate, DIG, NDRF and SDRF to go to the spot immediately. Also, two ministers Ramkesh Nishad and Rakesh Sachan have been directed to reach the spot immediately. Along with this, instructions have also been given to give a relief amount of Rs 4 lakh per deceased from the Disaster Relief Fund to the next of kin of the deceased.
UP ADG Prashant Kumar said that three people have died after a boat capsized in Yamuna river in Banda district on Thursday, while about 17 people are still missing. 13 people have been rescued. NDRF and SDRF teams are carrying out rescue operations. All senior officers of the area are present on the spot. The search will continue till everyone is found.
Minister said – action will be taken against those who are negligent
