Uttarakhand / Dehradun : Bodies of three people buried alive were found, search for four continues, dog squad engaged in search
Bodies of three of the five people buried in Sarkhet’s house during the disaster in Dehradun have been found. The three bodies were washed away in the rubble and came to a very low level. At the same time, the search is on for four out of the total seven missing from Dehradun district. Of these, two Sarkhet and two Soda had gone missing from Saroli village. SDRF’s dog squad and sailor teams are searching for the people.
There was severe devastation in the Sarkhet area of Maldevta on Saturday due to excessive rain. Many houses were demolished while hundreds of buildings were damaged. In this disaster, the house of Sarkhet resident Rajendra Singh Rana was also destroyed. Some guests also came to his place. When the flood came, he took everyone away with him. Since then, SDRF and NDRF personnel have been searching for him.
After searching for about 72 hours, the search parties on Wednesday recovered three bodies. Two bodies were found at the same place. They were identified as Surendra Singh (45) son Bir Singh and Rajendra Singh Rana (40) son Ranjit Singh Rana resident of Zainwadi Tehri Garhwal.
After some time another dead body appeared at the same place. After about an hour, the search parties also took it out. Identified as Vishal (15) son Ramesh Singh resident of Bhainswara. Family members Jagmohan and Anita are still missing. At the same time, search is on for Deepak Rawat and Geetaram missing from Soda Saroli.
At the same time, after the disaster in Gwad village of Kumalda region, no trace of four people of a family of a going missing in the village has been traced even in five days. SDRF and police are searching for him in the pile of rubble spread in the area.
On the night of the disaster, Magni Devi was sleeping in Gwad village with her son Kamand Singh, daughter-in-law Rukmani and a grand-granddaughter, but their entire house was buried under the rubble due to cloudburst in the night. After several efforts to carry out relief and rescue operations for those missing after the incident, the team was able to find only one body from the rubble while four people are still buried under the rubble.
Electricity supply of many nearby villages including Pasni, Ghudsal village and Toliakatal in the disaster-hit area in Saklana belt has not been restored even after five days. Arjun Pratap Singh, Executive Engineer, Energy Corporation said that workers are engaged in repairing the power lines of a dozen nearby villages including Pasni, Ghudsal village and Toliakatal, deprived of electricity supply in Saklana belt. Efforts are being made to supply power poles and transformers in the area.
