In-charge Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar gave instructions to prevent Hand Foot Mouth Disease (HFMD), Tomato Flu

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made a surprise inspection of Doon Medical College and Hospital and took stock of the arrangements there. He inquired about the well being of the hospitalized patients and took feedback. The Chief Minister himself ate the food to test the quality of the food served to the patients. He said that the service of patients is the service of God. If patients are treated with kindness, half the disease is cured in the same way. It is necessary to have a sense of service.

The Chief Minister directed to take special care of cleanliness in the hospital. Positive energy is transmitted through a clean environment. He said that such arrangements should be ensured that those coming for treatment do not have to wait long. Along with the patients, their relatives who come along with them should not be disturbed. Ensure availability of all necessary medicines in the hospital. The Chief Minister inspected the Emergency Wards, ICU and Dengue Ward in Doon Hospital.

On this occasion Secretary Health Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, Principal of Doon Medical College Dr. Ashutosh Sayana and officials of Health Department were present.

It is often seen that the outbreak of Hand Foot Mouth Disease (HFMD), Tomato Flu is increasing among children in different districts of Uttarakhand State, whether it is necessary to be aware that every possible effort should be made to stop the outbreak of HEMD.

The following information and preventive activities are necessary for the control and prevention of HEMD:

▪️HFM infection is spread through droplet infection, ie coughing and sneezing, and through close contact with an infected person, through contact with sputum or saliva.

▪️Symptoms of HFMD are fever, body ache, nausea, loss of appetite, swelling and pain in the throat, diarrhea, swelling in the joints, etc., as well as in the gums, face, tongue and hands and toes within 01 to 02 days. Getting rashes

▪️Methods of prevention Isolating an infected child or person during the period of illness to prevent the spread of infection, sensitizing children, not rubbing the rash, using a mask and taking precautions when sneezing and coughing.

▪️Treatment – HFMD usually manifests as a mild disease and is a self-resolving disease with common symptoms. With a little care, the disease can be completely controlled. Proper hydration should be maintained in the body when symptoms occur, plenty of water and fluids should be taken, balanced diet should be taken, green vegetables, fruits, protein diet and vitamins should be consumed, Paracetamol should be used for fever and pain. .

Hence all of you are directed to closely monitor the status of HEMD. Make all the doctors and concerned health workers aware on the aspects of control and prevention of HFMD in all government and private hospitals. Make sure to create awareness on the prevention of HFMD in the public through ASHA workers.
