Meanwhile, many party leaders have come out in support of Gehlot, calling him loyal to the Nehru-Gandhi family.

Congress MP from Kerala Kannoth Muraleedharan has said, “Congress MP Tharoor can contest the election of party chief, as Sonia Gandhi has clearly said that anyone can contest this election.” Pointing to Gehlot’s chances of winning, Muraleedharan said, “Ashok Gehlot has openly said that he supports the Nehru-Gandhi family. So if he nominates, our vote will go to Ashok Gehlot. He will.” He is a senior person and a competent person to handle this position.” He further said, “Rahul Gandhi will lead the party, but he will not take an official position.”

With Congress leader Rahul Gandhi emphasizing on implementing the principle of ‘one man-one post’ in the party, several ministers in the Rajasthan government have also advocated for Ashok Gehlot to be retained as both the chief minister and the party’s national president.

Sonia Gandhi has appointed Mallikarjun Kharge as observer along with Ajay Maken, general secretary in-charge of Rajasthan. AICC general secretary organization KC Venugopal said that they will attend the meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.

Sachin Pilot as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan?
Some ministers in the Rajasthan government have also supported Sachin Pilot as the new chief minister. However, he said that whatever decision the party high command takes in this regard, he will accept it. Sainik Welfare Minister Rajendra Singh Gudha has described Pilot as the “best face” of the Congress in Rajasthan.

At the same time, when asked about the speculation about changing the Chief Minister in Rajasthan, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Govind Ram Meghwal said, “Elections are going to be held in the state in a year. Assembly Speaker CP Joshi also in the fray?

Former Pradesh Congress President Joshi was in the race for the post of Chief Minister in 2008, but then he lost the assembly elections by one vote.

Meanwhile, many organizations, including the Jat Mahasabha, have started raising the demand for a Jat leader to be made the Chief Minister. Jat Mahasabha President Raja Ram Mile demanded that a Jat leader be made the Chief Minister as Gehlot has announced to quit the CM post.
