Winter has knocked in North India. A drop in the temperature of the country’s capital Delhi is also being recorded. Here the minimum temperature has started falling below 9 degrees. In the last two days, Delhi recorded the coldest morning of this season. In Delhi today, on November 23, the maximum temperature can remain up to 26 and the minimum can be up to 11 degrees. The capital recorded a minimum temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday morning, two notches below normal. Earlier on Monday, the minimum temperature had dropped to 8.9 degree Celsius.
Cold winds due to snowfall in hilly areas
Cold winds are blowing due to snowfall in hilly areas like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Uttarakhand. Due to this, cold has increased in many states including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi. It has been estimated to increase the cold in the night in North India. The weather will remain dry in Rajasthan for now and no fluctuation in temperature can be seen for the next three days.
Cold wave-like conditions may occur in many states
According to the Meteorological Department, due to snowfall in the hilly areas, cold wave-like conditions may soon develop in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, according to the weather forecasting agency Skymet, the depression over the Bay of South-West Bengal has now turned into a deep low pressure area. It will move northwestwards towards north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coast and weaken further.
Chance of rain in these states today
According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain is likely at many places in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh today. Light to moderate rain is expected at a few places including Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala, North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into southwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal.
No significant change is expected in the minimum temperatures over many parts of East India during the next 24 hours. After this the temperature may drop by 2-4 degree Celsius. Fog cover has been predicted till November 25 in Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
