Uttarakhand : To make the state free from plastic waste, it is necessary to comply with the Plastic Waste Management Rules – 2022 – Chief Secretary

Chief Secretary Dr. S. S. Sandhu took a meeting regarding plastic waste management at the secretariat on Thursday. The Chief Secretary has given instructions to ensure 100 percent compliance of the Plastic Waste Management Rules – 2022. The Chief Secretary said that compliance of the Plastic Waste Management Rules – 2022 is necessary to make the state free from plastic waste. This plastic-free Uttarakhand will also be important from the point of view of tourism for the state. He instructed that Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) plan should be sought from the manufacturer at the earliest. Along with this, 100 percent compliance of the rules related to it should be ensured.
The Chief Secretary said that all the concerned departments related to plastic waste management will have to play an active role. He said that arrangement of drones etc. should also be ensured for checking disposal of plastic waste from mountaineering and trekking routes. Along with this, the management of plastic waste should also be included in the waste management plans in all the gram panchayats of the state. For plastic waste in urban bodies, the concerned departments should ensure compliance of Plastic Waste Management Rules at their own level.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan and Principal Secretary R. Of. High officials of other concerned departments including Sudhanshu were present.
