Former India opener Shiv Sundar Das became the batting coach of the women’s team
Former Test opener Shiv Sundar Das has been made the batting coach of the Indian women’s cricket team. He has been appointed only for the upcoming seven matches of England. The tour, to be held in June-July, includes one Test, three One Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals.
“This is the first time I have been entrusted with the responsibility of working with the women’s national team of India, so it is a very exciting time for me,” said Das. I’m really looking forward to it. It will be a good challenge for me because I have toured and played a lot of league cricket in England as a player.
Former Indian Railways player Abhay Sharma has been appointed as the fielding coach, who is part of the nine-member support staff headed by head coach Ramesh Powar. Das, who has been appointed only for this series, has previously worked with the India Women’s A team. The only Test will begin on 16 June in Bristol and the tour will conclude with a T20 match on 15 July.
