The government side, represented by Director of Public Prosecution Sherma Dalrymple, strongly objected to Choksi’s plea and said that Choksi could flee the country. Now after the hearing on the bail plea is adjourned, the fugitive businessman will have to spend a few more days in jail. At the same time, Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerritt said that Mehul Choksi’s rights will be respected and further action will be taken only after the court’s decision.
