Windies batsman Bonner was hit on the head, out of the first Test
West Indies batsman Nkrumah Bonner was batting on the first day of the first Test against South Africa when a ball from fast bowler Enrich Nortje hit his helmet. Due to this, he has now been ruled out of the first Test. Nortje’s ball hit Bonner’s helmet but he continued to bat. However, he became the victim of Kagiso Rabada for 10 runs.
The 32-year-old batsman did not come out to field during South Africa’s innings and was replaced by Kieran Powell on day one as a replacement.
West Indies Cricket tweeted, “Bonner’s helmet was hit by a ball while batting in the first innings, injuring his head. Powell came out to field in his place.
Windies were all out for 97 in the first innings. In such a situation, being out of Bonner like this can prove to be a setback for the hosts.
