Discussion held on strengthening air services in Uttarakhand

The Chief Minister, Shri Tirath Singh Rawat called on the Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Civil Aviation, Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, Shri Hardeep Puri, in New Delhi. On the request of the Chief Minister, under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), an amount of Rs 32 crore 14 lakh 22 thousand has been approved for solid waste management projects in three Ganga-towns Rishikesh, Roorkee and Kotdwar. . The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the Union Minister Shri Hardeep Puri ji for this. The Chief Minister discussed in detail with the Union Minister on the strengthening of air services in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister said that the length of the runway should be increased to make Pithoragarh airstrip more viable for air services. Simultaneously, the Pithoragarh airstrip should be transferred to the Airports Authority of India. The Chief Minister requested for re-invitation of tenders for the revival of fixed wing (aircraft) air service from Pithoragarh airstrip under RCS (Regional Connectivity Scheme) and point to point route approved under RCS scheme. The Chief Minister said that permission should be given to change the helipad route and use of single engine helicopter approved under RCS scheme. He also requested to provide air services on all days of the week by Pawan Hans Limited in Kumaon region. The Chief Minister asked the Union Minister Rs 93 crore 21 lakh for 3 cluster solid waste management schemes and Rs 126 crore 53 lakh for processing of 8 legacy waste-old dump sites to meet the targets set under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban. also requested for approval. Union Minister Shri Hardeep Puri assured Chief Minister Shri Tirath Singh Rawat of all possible cooperation. Chief Secretary Shri Omprakash, Secretary Smt. Radhika Jha, Shri Dilip Jawalkar, Shri Shailesh Bagoli and other officers were present on this occasion.
