Uttarakhand : GOC of Central Command met Chief Minister Tirath. Incharge

Discussed on the development of marginal areas

GOC of Central Command met Chief Minister Shri Tirath Singh at the Secretariat on Thursday. In-charge Lt Gen Y Dimri AVSM, VSM made a courtesy call. He discussed with the Chief Minister various issues related to the availability of communication facilities and development of roads in the marginal areas of the state. During the meeting with the Chief Minister, the GOC of the Central Command also asked the Chief Minister to focus on strengthening the local intelligence in the border areas, road widening up to Joshimath-Oli, Badkot-Purola-Mori and Meenas-Aral-Tuni connecting Himachal. The need for road construction and improvement was also pointed out.

Chief Minister Shri Tirath Singh said that the State Government is paying special attention to the development of marginal areas. Special attention is being given to connectivity of these areas by road and development of communication facilities. He said that in connection with the development of communication facilities in the forward areas of Lipulekh, Gunji, Niti Malari, he recently met the Union Minister for Information Technology and Communications, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, regarding the establishment of V-sets in the marginal areas of the state. Discussion was held. The Union Minister has assured early action for the development of communication facilities in these areas.

The Chief Minister said that he has held talks with Union Road Transport Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari as well as Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh for strengthening of roads in the border areas of the State. He said that the Union Road Transport Minister has given instructions to prepare DPR for construction, widening etc. of roads in Joshimath-Auli area. He has also assured the development of roads in the marginal areas. The Chief Minister said that the proposal for construction and improvement of the roads connecting Uttarakhand with Himachal would also be placed before the Union Road Transport Minister.

The Chief Minister said that the state has been given full cooperation by the army in the prevention of corona epidemic. He said that on the initiative of Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, DRDO in the state. Hospitals of 500-500 beds have been established on priority basis in Rishikesh and Haldwani. The Chief Minister also thanked the Lieutenant General of the Central Command for the cooperation of the Army in relief work at the time of calamity.

On this occasion, Chief Adviser to Chief Minister Shatrughan Singh, G.O.C. Uttarakhand Sub Area, Major General Khatri, Brigadier C.V.K. Banerjee, Deputy Military Secretary Central Command were also present.
