Uttarakhand / Haridwar : BJP workers celebrated black day on the anniversary of emergency

46 years ago, on the anniversary of the Emergency imposed by the then Congress government in the country, BJP workers, under the leadership of District President Dr. Jaipal Singh Chouhan, demonstrated at Chandraacharya Chowk, celebrating Black Day. During this, Dr. Chetan Das Saini, a resident of Roorkee, who was in jail for 6 months during the Emergency, was honored by wearing a shawl at the district BJP office in Jagjitpur. Addressing the protesting activists wearing black bands, Dr. Jaipal Singh Chouhan said that after the declaration of emergency in the country, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had abrogated all the fundamental rights of the countrymen. Censorship was imposed on the press. Opposition leaders were imprisoned overnight and subjected to physical torture, inhumane treatment. Which is still in the mind of the countrymen. He said that the ill-fated attempt by the then Congress government to turn the country into a dictatorship by suppressing democratic voices. The country still trembles remembering those dark days. The country remembers those who made lakhs of sacrifices. Who opposed the Emergency and fought a valiant fight against the dictatorship. It is very unfortunate that instead of condemning this act, the Congress does not even express its regret even today. The way in which the then Indira government at the center did the work of corrupting the country’s economy at that time. By turning away from the slogan of Garibi Hatao, unemployment in the country and employees were also made agents of a party. At such a time, the main opposition parties of the country and the Bharatiya Jana Sangh fought a long battle and fought a great struggle to protect the fundamental rights of the common Indian and to get the country out of the Emergency. BJP District General Secretary Vikas Tiwari and Adesh Saini said that Indira Gandhi’s disqualification as MP and declaration of emergency during the 1971 parliamentary election was done by Indira Gandhi defeating Raj Narain from Rae Bareli constituency. Who later filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court accusing Indira Gandhi of electoral malpractice. In order to save herself from the resulting decision and to maintain her power, Indira Gandhi imposed emergency in the country and all the pillars of democracy in the country were also demolished. There can be no worse example of crushing the democratic system in the country’s chapter. Congress should apologize to the whole country for imposing emergency on the country. Dr. Chetan Das Saini, who was in jail for 6 months during Emergency, was honored and welcomed by inviting him to the BJP district office. During this, Dr. Chetan Saini shared his memories with the workers.
