Poor pitch will lead to low scores in T20 World Cup : Boucher

South Africa coach Mark Boucher says the pitch will deteriorate after the end of the IPL in the UAE, leading to low scores in the T20 World Cup. The remaining matches of the IPL will be held in the UAE from September 19, with the final on October 15, while the T20 World Cup will start from October 17 and go on till November 14.
Boucher told Cricinfo, they will play IPL in UAE. There is not a lot of ground and the wickets will get spoiled which will lead to low scores.

“It will be difficult to bat here, especially towards the end, as we have seen in West Indies. We will get an idea by watching the IPL what the score is going to be. After that we will be able to assess how the wicket is going to be in the World Cup. I doubt spinners will play a big role.

“We will play in the UAE in the same environment as it is in the West Indies,” Boucher said. The pitch will dry up after the IPL. It will not be like what we get in South Africa where you can score 180-200 runs.

South Africa recently defeated Windies 3-2 in the five-match T20I series.
