Uttarakhand : Outbreak of black fungus is gaining momentum in the state

Black fungus is slowly spreading its footprint in the state. In a month, the number of its patients has almost doubled. What is more worrying is that about a third of the patients admitted to the black fungus are dying. In view of this, the Health Department has appealed to the patients as well as the hospitals to be extra vigilant for the treatment. Patients of black fungus started appearing in Uttarakhand from May itself. In view of the increasing cases of black fungus in the country, the Uttarakhand government has also declared black fungus as an epidemic. The first patient in Kumaon was admitted to STH from US Nagar. Even after two months, cases of black fungus are coming to the fore. On June 1, the number of black fungus patients in the state was 237, which reached 499 on July 1.

Status of July 11: Till July 11, 523 cases of black fungus have been reported in the state. In this, 104 have died, while 120 people have been discharged. On July 1, their number was 499. According to the data of the Health Department till July 1, Rishikesh had the highest number of 331 black fungus patients admitted in the state. After this, Jolly Grant Hospital had 48 and the third number was STH, where 33 patients were admitted.
