Australian show jumper suspended from Olympics

Australia’s show jumper has been suspended just two days before the start of the Tokyo Olympics after testing positive for cocaine. 36-year-old Jamie Kermond, who was set to make her Olympic debut but had a positive A sample, was initially suspended. Equestrian Australia informed about the suspension of Kermond via a statement on Wednesday morning.
“Equestrian Australia has temporarily suspended jumping athlete Kermond in accordance with the Australian National Anti-Doping Policy 2021,” the statement said. Cermonds is banned from participating in any WADA compliance event, including the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) said the AOC has been made aware of the temporary suspension of equestrian athlete Kermond after being informed by Sport Integrity Australia (SIA). The matter will be considered by the Australian Olympic Team Selection Committee.
Kermond still has a chance to get through the B sample test.
