Himachal Pradesh : CMD SJVN laid the foundation stone of “Mini Smart Township” of 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plant in Bihar

Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director, SJVN today visited the 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plant located in Bihar. During his official visit, he laid the foundation stone of “Mini Smart Township” for the power plant. Director (Personnel) Geeta Kapoor, Director (Finance) AK Singh and Director (Electrical) Sushil Kumar Sharma graced the occasion. On this occasion SJVN Thermal Pvt. Ltd. (STPL) CEO Sanjeev Sood was also present along with senior officers from SJVN and STPL.

Addressing the employees, Nand Lal Sharma said that the “Mini Smart Township” shows the importance of the SJVN Management towards the interests of its employees. The township will include residential buildings, office complexes, guest houses, sports complexes, clubs, hospitals, schools, shopping complexes, auditoriums and amphitheatres. Green building provisions are being included in the Jarhais township being built on the Smart City concept. The smart city will have state-of-the-art concepts of rainwater harvesting systems and solar panels for energy requirements. The proposed township would include multi-storey residential units with adequate open and green roads, parks and water bodies.

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plant on 9th March 2019. Sharma also informed that Union Power and NRE Minister R. Of. Continuous monitoring of the project progress is being done by Singh. He called upon all the stakeholders to enthusiastically work hard to commission the project before the stipulated deadline.

He further informed that the 1320 MW (2×660 MW) Buxar Thermal Power Plant with Ultra Super Critical Technology has been awarded to SJVN Thermal Pvt. Ltd. (a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN Limited). The plant involves an investment of about Rs 11,000 crore. On commissioning, the plant will generate 9828 million units of electricity. He emphasized on contributing to the goal of “24×7 Power to All” set by the Prime Minister of India. He said that every person associated with the plant has to work harmoniously towards the commissioning of the first unit of the plant by June, 2023 and the second unit by January, 2024.

In addition, Nand Lal Sharma along with other directors and senior officers reviewed the progress of activities and inspected all major components of the plant. He appreciated the dedicated efforts of all the personnel involved in maintaining the pace of work even in the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
