Ministry of Tourism has promoted India as a holistic tourist destination: G. Kishan Reddy

The promotion and development of tourism is mainly done by the State Governments/Union Territory Administrations. The Ministry of Tourism, under its schemes of Swadesh Darshan and Prashad, provides financial assistance to State Governments/Union Territory Administrations/Central Agencies for the development of tourism infrastructure and facilities in the country including Maharashtra. Presentation and acceptance of project proposals by the State Governments is a continuous process. The projects for development under the schemes are identified in consultation with the State Governments/UT Administrations/Central Agencies and their approval, submission of proposals, their compliance with the respective scheme guidelines, submission of suitable detailed project reports, availability of funds and subject to utilization of funds released earlier.

The Ministry of Tourism approved the development of Maharashtra Coastal Circuit of Sindhudurg Coastal Circuit (Shiroda Beach), Sagareshwar, Tarkarli, Vijaydurg (Beach and Creek), Deogarh (Fort and Beach), Mitbhav, Tondavali, Mosehmad and Nivati Fort in 2015-16. Rs.54.01 crore for the development of spiritual circuit of Waki-Adasa-Dhapewada-Pardsingh-Chhota Taj Bagh-Telkhandi-Girad in 2018-19.
37.81 crore was sanctioned for the development of Trimbakeshwar in the year 2017-18 under PRASHAD scheme of the Ministry of Tourism.

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, promotes India as a holistic tourist destination including tiger reserves, national parks, hill stations, beaches, wildlife, heritage sites, historical places and temples. As a part of its ongoing activities, Incredible India conducts print, electronic, online and outdoor media campaigns in domestic and international markets under the brand-line to promote tourism products and destinations in the country. The Ministry also promotes tourist places and products through its websites and promotional material prepared from time to time. This information was given by Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy gave a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
