Himachal Pradesh / Sirmour : Huge landslide in Himachal’s Sirmaur, the road became grounded in the blink of an eye

A major landslide occurred in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmour district today. Here a large part of the mountain along the National Highway 707 near Barwas in Kamrau district of Sirmour district got grounded on sight and at the same time a large part of the road broke down and fell into the gorge. Although there is no news of loss of life or property, but the scene was so frightening that for some time the people present on the highway stopped breathing. A video of this landslide is rapidly going viral on social media.

In the video, a large part of the mountain was seen breaking and falling on the road, after which a large part of the road also fell into the ditch. This video was shared by the State Disaster Management Authority.

The Paonta Sahib-Shilai highway has been closed for traffic after a 100-metre stretch of road collapsed. The local people present nearby saved their lives by running away. Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu has advised drivers to travel with caution. He said in a tweet, although the rain has slowed down, but it is advised to travel with caution. Be alert, be safe.

Meanwhile, around 150 people, including tourists, stranded due to roads closed for traffic following landslides in remote Lahaul-Spiti district’s Udaipur for the past three days, have been rescued.
