Border dispute : Mizoram Police registers FIR against Assam CM, case against 6 senior officers too

The Mizoram Police has registered criminal cases against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, four senior state police officers and two other officials in connection with the violence on the outskirts of Vairengte town in Kolasib district. Mizoram Inspector General of Police (Headquarters) John N said that a case has been registered against these people under sections including attempt to murder and criminal conspiracy. He said an FIR was registered by the state police at Vairengte police station late on Monday night following a violent clash between Mizoram and Assam police forces near Seema Nagar. Cases have also been registered against 200 unidentified personnel of Assam Police, he said.
Summons were issued to these officers on July 28. Two days before this, there was a bloody clash between Assam and Mizoram police forces at Lailapur in Cachar district, in which five Assam Police personnel and a resident were killed while over 50 others were injured. A case has been registered in connection with this matter at Dholai police station.
In separate summons issued by Deputy Superintendent of Police Kalyan Kumar Das to all the officers, it was said that a reasonable and credible information has been received that you have committed the alleged cognizable offence. When contacted, Cachar Superintendent of Police Ramandeep Kaur has confirmed about the summons.
