Government is making Fit India a mass movement: Anurag Thakur

Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has said that the government is making Fit India a mass movement. Giving this information in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, Thakur said that the Ministry is actively spreading awareness about fitness through various activities and campaigns in collaboration with various stakeholders under the Fit India Movement and for different age groups. Fit India age-appropriate fitness protocols have also been issued.
He said that this Ministry is actively spreading awareness about fitness through various activities and campaigns in collaboration with various stakeholders under the Fit India Movement. The major activities undertaken by the Ministry under the Fit India banner include online/offline activities. These include Plog Run, School Certificate System, Youth Club Certification System, School Week Celebrations, Cyclothon, Yoga Day Utsav, Freedom Run, Active Day Series during Lockdown, Champion Talks, Dialogue Series, Swadeshi Khel Series, Fit India Theme Campaign and Prabhat Pheri . Apart from this Fit India age-appropriate fitness protocols have also been issued for different age groups.

The Sports Minister informed that this Ministry has been actively spreading awareness about fitness since the launch of the Fit India Movement, showcasing simple physical activities that have always been an integral part of our Indian culture. Businessmen are being invited to participate in all the events/activities organized under the Fit India Movement and their participation in events like Fit India Freedom Run, Fit India Cyclothon etc. has been very encouraging.

He said that the central government’s role in making Fit India a mass movement is catalytic and no separate fund has been allocated for this programme.
