Deepak Das took over as Controller General of Accounts

Deepak Das today assumed charge as Controller General of Accounts. Deepak Das is the 25th officer to take over as the Controller General of Accounts (CGA). Deepak Das is a 1986 batch Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS) officer. He has been appointed as the Controller General of Accounts (CGA) in the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance with effect from August 1, 2021, by the Government of India.
During his career spanning over 35 years, Das has served in the Departments of Science & Technology, Environment & Forests, Industry Promotion & Internal Trade and Ministries such as Heavy Industries, Commerce & Textiles, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Road Transport, Highways, Shipping, Home and Central Indirect He has held important positions in the Board of Taxes and Customs at various levels. Das has also been the director of the Institute of Government Accounts and Finance (INGAF), the training academy of the Indian Civil Accounts Service.
Das has held important portfolios in the Government of India while on central deputation. There he served in the Ministry of Defense as Deputy Secretary as well as Director. Apart from this, he has also served as Member (Finance) in Inland Waterways Authority of India, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.
Prior to taking over as CGA, Das served as the Principal Chief Controller of Accounts in the Central Board of Direct Taxes. There he was instrumental in several important technology-driven initiatives relating to direct tax collection, reporting and receipt accounting.
Das is an alumnus of Kirori Mal College, Delhi University.
