20 civilians killed, clinics and schools damaged in Afghanistan

In the past 48 hours, 20 civilians were killed and a health clinic and a school were completely damaged in the air raids, rocket attacks and fighting in Lashkargah, the capital of Helmand province of Afghanistan.

Security forces told the media that Taliban militants were hiding in districts where clinics and schools were damaged. It is suspected that airstrikes were carried out from US aircraft B-52 Stratofortress targeting Taliban militants in these districts.

The media, quoting American defense sources, said in its report that the US has sent B-52 Stratofortress aircraft to Afghanistan to fight the Taliban. Last year, the plane carried out air strikes against militants in Shebergan, the capital of Afghanistan’s northern province of Jozhan.

Taliban attacks in the country have increased since the beginning of the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan. The withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan is likely to be completed by September 11.
