Deputy Commissioner Una Raghav Sharma today inaugurated the cleanliness week near the railway crossing on Malahat Road. Raghav Sharma, along with the officials and the staff of the Municipal Council, Una, cleaned the mess and planted saplings here. ADC Dr. Amit Kumar Sharma was also present with him.
On this occasion, Raghav Sharma said that with the aim of motivating the people to keep their village, their city clean, cleanliness week is being celebrated from August 9 to August 15, which has been started from Malahat today. Under this campaign, a similar campaign will be launched in all the urban and rural areas of the district, so that people can become aware of cleanliness.
The Collector said that today the hot spots of dirt were cleaned in Malahat, where people from nearby places come and dump garbage. To prevent this problem, CCTV cameras will be installed here and legal action will be taken against those who dump garbage. Appealing to everyone to cooperate in making Una district clean, he said that in Una the Municipal Council vehicles regularly go door-to-door to collect garbage, for which a nominal fee is charged. All the residents of the district should take a pledge to maintain cleanliness in their respective areas and cooperate with the district administration.
Raghav Sharma said that plastic waste is also being disposed of. The city council will cut some plastic into small pieces and give it to the PWD department for use in road construction. While some plastic will be given to the cement industry so that it can be disposed of properly. Executive Officer Municipal Council Una Sandeep Kumar and other staff were present in the program.
