Uttarakhand / Rishikesh : Four people of Haryana arrested for smuggling rare species of turtle

Doiwala Police has arrested four people from Haryana along with a rare species of turtle in Doiwala in Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. A case was registered against them under the Forest Protection Act. The police produced the accused before the court and sent them to jail. According to Doiwala Kotwali police, Laltappad outpost police was checking vehicles late on Friday night. Meanwhile, the driver of the car coming from Haridwar was stopped for checking. There were four people in the car. When interrogated them, they could not give satisfactory answer to the police. Along with this, a rare species of turtle was also found from them. During the interrogation of the police, the accused told that the turtle has been brought for worship. Kotwali senior sub-inspector Rajvikram Singh Panwar said that the accused have been identified as Rohit son Netrapal Singh resident of F/2 Bhim Saini colony Ballabhgarh, Faridabad, Govind resident of Sikanderpur police station Khedi Sitaula, District Gurugram, Prahlad Kumar son Ganesh Kumar resident of Shahpura, Ballabhgarh, Faridabad, Dharam. Veer son Jaipal, resident of village Thorka, Hayatpur, Gurugram, Haryana. A case has been registered against the accused under the Forest Protection Act. All the accused have been sent to jail after being produced in the court. According to the police, these people trapped in the desire of money told that the turtle is considered auspicious for them. Worshiping it brings wealth and wealth. So reach Haridwar from Faridabad. There he took a bath in the Ganges. After that they reached Laltappad to offer prayers in the forest. Police said that the arrested youths are unemployed. They got trapped because of blind faith.
