Uttarakhand : Commerce festival organized on the occasion of Amrit Festival of Independence

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated as the chief guest in the commerce festival on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence organized by the Industries Department at Hotel Pacific located on Subhash Road on Tuesday. The Chief Minister started the program by lighting the lamp and inspected the stalls.

Chief Minister Shri Dhami said that when we are celebrating the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, it is commendable to organize Commerce Week at such a time. The main objective of the commerce festival is to focus on economic development and to promote exports especially from India. Despite the difficult geographical conditions and many transport constraints, the state of Uttarakhand is growing rapidly in terms of exports year after year. This is the reason that in the Export Preparedness Index released by the Central Government, the state of Uttarakhand has been ranked first in the category of Himalayan states. The Chief Minister said that in the last five years alone, Uttarakhand has achieved more than double the growth in exports. In the year 2017-18, Uttarakhand exported Rs 10,836 crore, while in 2020-21 it has increased to Rs 15,914 crore. Automobile and pharma units have emerged as the largest exporting sector in the state. Apart from this, Uttarakhand exports flower production, agricultural and food processing, organic products, aromatic plants, biotechnology, handicrafts items abroad. Organizing the commerce festival will prove to be a milestone in transforming India as an emerging economic power to promote and showcase the export potential of the state and exportable products and services from the state. The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand has become a preferred investment destination in North India due to its progressive policy framework, availability of quality manpower and good law and order. The manufacturing sector contributes more than 36 per cent to the state’s GSDP. The government is also focusing on improving the contribution of the service sector to its economy and the tourism sector has been given industry status. Uttarakhand is one of the top states in the Business Reform Action Point Rankings conducted by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, DPIIT. State’s investment promotion agency has been adjudged the best performer by Invest India. Efforts are being made to set up Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Haridwar. The state has also identified important sectors like agriculture, health and AYUSH, pharmaceuticals, automobiles and allied, tourism and hospitality, handlooms and handicrafts, educational services, among others, to boost exports. We aim to achieve our ambitious target of exporting goods worth Rs 30,000 crore.

The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, work is being done on many schemes. Various schemes are being run for skill development of youth. So that youth can get a new platform as well as energetic youth to industries. India is on the path of becoming a self-reliant India under the leadership of the Prime Minister. He said that the central and state governments are working with a strong will. The message of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand goes to the whole world. Our entrepreneurs will be our brand ambassadors for the establishment of more industries in the state. The Chief Minister said that the state government is working on the mantra of simplification, solution and disposal. We will solve the problems of the people associated with the industries by simplification and at the same time their problems will also be resolved. All the industries that have been established in Uttarakhand will be given every opportunity for development and growth by removing their problems. At the same time, our government is ready to provide all possible help to promote industries. On this occasion Secretary Industries Radhika Jha, Deputy Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Commerce, Anand Bhashkar, DG SEPC Dr. Abhay Sinha, Director Industries Sudhir Chandra Nautiyal, Export Commissioner Rohit Meena and office bearers of Industry Association were present.
