David’s stormy innings won Namibia by six wickets

Namibia defeated Netherlands by six wickets in the Group A match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, thanks to a stormy innings by all-rounder David Weiss (66). With this win, Namibia have scored two important points, although they are currently in third place on the points table.

Electing to bat after losing the toss, Netherlands made a challenging score of 164 for four in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Namibia won the match by scoring 166 runs losing four wickets in 19 overs. David Weiss was the hero of this victory, who played a blistering innings of 66 runs in 40 balls with the help of four fours and five sixes. JJ Smith batted with him in the end and led the team to victory with one over remaining. Both remained unbeaten. Smith scored 14 runs in eight balls with the help of two fours. Captain Gerhard Erasmus also scored 32 runs in 22 balls with the help of four fours and a six.

Unlike batting, Netherlands could not do much in bowling. Fred Klaasen and Peter Seelar bowled brilliantly for 14 for 14 in four overs and one for eight in two overs respectively, but none of them were effective. Everyone conceded a lot of runs. Earlier in the batting, opener Max Oudoud played a brilliant innings of 70 runs in 56 balls with the help of six fours and a six. Apart from him, wicket-keeper batsman Scott Edwards finally scored 21 runs in 11 balls. In this innings, he hit two fours and a six.

John Frylink was the most successful bowler in the bowling for Namibia with two wickets. Apart from him, David Weiss took a wicket.
