Jammu & Kashmir : Landmine blast near LOC during patrol, army officer and jawan martyred

Two soldiers, including an army officer, were killed in a landmine blast near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Saturday afternoon. Three other jawans were injured in the blast. The cause of the blast could not be ascertained.

Army officials said that army personnel were patrolling the Kalal area in Lam sector of Noweshra in Rajouri district on Saturday afternoon. A landmine detonated near the Line of Control during routine patrolling. The soldiers of the army were caught in the sudden blast. One lieutenant and four jawans were seriously injured in the incident. who were brought to the hospital.

According to official sources, the cause of the blast is yet to be ascertained. Among the injured lieutenant and jawan have been martyred. Both have been identified as Lt Rishi Kumar and Sepoy Manjit Singh. While three other jawans are said to be seriously injured. His treatment is going on.

The army has paid tribute to both the martyred soldiers. He also expressed deep condolences to the families of the martyrs. At present, the army has increased vigil along the Line of Control. Simultaneously, investigation has been started into the cause of the explosion.
