Uttarakhand : Big announcement of CM Dhami, holiday in Igas
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has declared a holiday for the popular festival of the state, Igas. The CM announced this at a program in Haridwar. Although this day is Sunday. But the announcement of this Dhami has opened the way for Egas to remain incarnate in the future. CM Garhwali informed about the decision of leave through his tweet. He wrote that, now a holiday is celebrated on the folk festival ‘Igas’ symbolizing the rich folk culture of Uttarakhand. Our aim is that we sabbi this festival with great pomp and show, and our new generation will also be obsessed with our traditional festivals. On the other hand, Speaker of the Assembly Premchand Agrawal, expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for the decision of CM, has described it as a commendable initiative.
Agarwal said that the Chief Minister has been appreciated for this decision for the preservation and promotion of civilization, culture of the state. The Speaker said that the tradition which has been going on for years is carried out on the day of Egas Bagwal festival, which is celebrated 11 days after Deepawali. He said that during this time in Devbhoomi there is a custom of playing buffalo, which is a medium to share happiness with each other.
On this day ‘Raksha Bandhan’, the Rakshasutra tied on the hand is tied on the tail of the calf and blessings are sought for the fulfillment of the vow. On this occasion, the Speaker said that he would participate in all the programs organized in Rishikesh assembly constituency on the occasion of Egas festival and this festival would be celebrated with gaiety and grandeur.
