Gujarat model failed, now Chhattisgarh will run, Bhupesh Baghel said on being top in cleanliness for the third time in a row

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, who topped the cleanliness rankings for the third time in a row, is very proud. Describing it as a big day for the state, he said that the Gujarat model has failed and now the Chhattisgarh one will work.

Baghel said, “Today is a big day for Chhattisgarh as the state has got the cleanest state award from the President for the third time in a row. The state has received around 67 awards in different categories. The Gujarat model has failed, now the Chhattisgarh model will work.

Indore was declared the cleanest city for the fifth time in a row in the Central Government’s annual cleanliness survey, while Chhattisgarh retained the position of the cleanest state. The results of the annual Swachh Survekshan Puraskar 2021 were announced on Saturday. In Swachh Survekshan Puraskar 2021, Surat got the second place and Vijayawada got the third place among the cleanest cities.

Chhattisgarh was declared the cleanest state in India in the survey announced by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency Varanasi got the first prize in the category of “Clean Ganga City” in the survey. In this category, Munger of Bihar got second and Patna got third place. Varanasi had received the same award in this category last year as well.

Indore and Surat retained their positions in the Swachh Survekshan 2021, although Navi Mumbai moved up from third place to fourth in the clean city category. Maharashtra got a total of 92 awards while Chhattisgarh got 67 awards in the survey. According to the ministry, nine cities Indore, Surat, New Delhi Municipal Council, Navi Mumbai, Ambikapur, Mysuru, Noida, Vijayawada and Patan were certified as cities with 5 star rating in the garbage free city category. 143 cities got city status with 3 star rating.
