Referring to Ramayana-Mahabharata, CJI gave advice to the ‘government’, said – analyze your decisions daily
Chief Justice of India NV Raman said that the rulers should analyze daily whether their decisions are just or not. He said that the rulers should also test whether there is any evil in them. At a program in Puttaparthinagar, Andhra Pradesh, Justice Raman, referring to the Mahabharata and Ramayana, said that rulers have 14 demerits. Try to keep them away. He said that in a democracy, the people are supreme. In such a situation, whatever decision is taken by the government, the public should definitely get the benefit of it, analysis is necessary to know that.
Addressing the 40th convocation of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Education at Puttaparthi town in Anantapuramu district, Justice Ramana cited the Mahabharata and Ramayana to say there are 14 bad qualities of rulers which they should avoid. Justice Ramana said that it is his wish that all the systems of the country should be free and honest, whose aim is to serve the people, Sathya Sai Baba used to say the same thing.
He said that unfortunately, the modern education system focuses only on the utilitarian function and such system is not equipped with the moral or spiritual aspect of education which should build the character of the students and develop in them social consciousness and sense of responsibility. .
Regarding Sathya Sai Baba, Justice Raman said, “I had the privilege of seeing Baba. I have always carried his words of wisdom with me.”
