Uttarakhand / Uttarkashi : Three years imprisonment for molesting minor

The court of Special Sessions Judge Kaushal Kishor Shukla has sentenced the convict to three years’ rigorous imprisonment for molesting a minor. A fine of Rs 10,000 has also been imposed on the accused. In default of payment of fine, he shall undergo further imprisonment for two months. A case was registered against the accused under the POCSO Act.

On 16 May 2019, a complaint of molestation with a minor was lodged in Kotwali Uttarkashi. The victim’s maternal uncle had told in a complaint to the police that on May 14, 2019, while coming home from tuition, Chandra Kishore (50), a resident of Bihar, molested her niece. On the second day also his niece saw the said person at the same place. The niece informed the family about the incident. On this, the police registered a case against the accused under the POCSO Act. In August 2019, the police filed a charge sheet in the court. After hearing the arguments of the prosecution and the defense, the court of Special Sessions Judge Kaushal Kishor Shukla gave the verdict on Saturday. Assistant District Government Advocate Poonam Singh told that the accused Chandra Kishore has been sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment and 10 thousand fine. In default of payment of fine, he shall undergo rigorous imprisonment for two months. The accused was released on bail. He is arrested and sent to jail.
