“Priyanka Chaturvedi resigns from the post of anchor of Parliament, said – when the house

“Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi along with 11 others has resigned as anchor for a show on Parliament TV following suspension from Rajya Sabha during the monsoon session of Parliament. She wrote a letter to Rajya Sabha Chairman venkaiah Naidu as well.  has told.”

‘When thrown out of the house…’

In a letter to Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu, she said, “It is with great sadness that I am stepping down as the anchor of Parliament TV’s show ‘Meri Kahani’.  I am not ready to hold any position in a place where my primary authority is being taken away.  This has happened because of the arbitrary suspension of 12 of us MPs.  So, the closer I was to this show, the more I have to walk away.

She further wrote that ‘My MP track record has also been spoiled by this suspension.  I think injustice has been done.  But if it is justified in the eyes of the Chairman, then I have to respect it.

“It is worth noting that in August, 12 opposition MPs were suspended from the Rajya Sabha for the entire winter session for creating ruckus in the last session of Parliament and disrupting the proceedings of the House. The opposition called the suspension ‘undemocratic and process’ by the Upper House.  Violation of all rules’.

The suspended MPs include six from Congress, two each from Trinamool Congress and Shiv Sena and one each from CPI and CPI(M).  At present, these people are protesting throughout the day in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi inside the Parliament complex.  These people have decided to continue doing this every day till their suspension is revoked.”
