Punjab : AAP MP Bhagwant Mann claims – BJP leader offered money to change party and make cabinet minister
Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) MP from Punjab Bhagwant Mann on Sunday claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party had lured him to change party. He said that a senior BJP leader offered him money and a cabinet minister in the Modi government to change the party just before the assembly elections. Assembly elections are to be held in Punjab after a few months.
Mann, who heads the AAP in Punjab, said he was not someone who could be bought by money, power or the like. Talking to the media, he also said that BJP is in touch with many more AAP MLAs in Punjab. The two-time MP from Sangrur did not name anyone, but said he was contacted four days ago. Mann, the BJP leader said, “What would you like to take for joining BJP?” Mann also said that the BJP leader asked him if he wanted money.
Mann, AAP’s lone MP from Punjab, said he was further told that he would be made a Union minister if he joins the saffron camp. “I told them (BJP leaders) that I am on a mission, not on commission,” Mann said. Things cannot be bought in exchange.
When Mann was asked the name of the BJP leader, he said that he will reveal the name when the time comes. Mann also said that the BJP has no support base in Punjab. “Its leaders are not being allowed to enter the villages and are facing anger from farmers against the agriculture law passed by the central government,” Mann said. Anyone who has the future of Punjab in mind will not join BJP.
