Pro-democracy Nobel laureate Suu Kyi jailed for 4 years in Myanmar, convicted of inciting people against the army

Myanmar’s Nobel laureate and pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been sentenced to four years in prison. The court has found him guilty of inciting discontent against the army and breaking the Corona rules. On the night of 1 February 2021 in Myanmar, the army had arrested Suu Kyi in a coup. Military leader General Min Aung Huling has been the country’s prime minister since then.

He had said that in 2023 the emergency would be abolished and general elections would be held. The coup was followed by a bloody conflict in Myanmar. 940 people were killed in this. General elections were held in Myanmar in November 2020. In this, Suu Kyi’s party won 396 seats in both houses. His party won 258 out of 330 seats in the Lower House and 138 out of 168 in the Upper House.

Opposition uproar over demand for Home Minister’s reply on Nagaland violence

In Rajya Sabha, the opposition created a ruckus over the reply of the Home Minister on the Nagaland violence, after which the proceedings of the house have been adjourned till 12 noon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called a high level meeting regarding the accident in Nagaland. It includes all senior leaders including Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. After this, Amit Shah will give a statement about this incident in both the houses in the evening. He will reply in Lok Sabha at 3 o’clock and in Rajya Sabha at 4 o’clock.
