Uttar Pradesh / Kushinagar : Dozens of women were sitting on a well covered with slabs, with loud noises everything was submerged in water, 13 died
There is an atmosphere of mourning in the area due to the death of 13 people in an accident during the wedding ceremony in Naurangiya’s School Khas Tola, located in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh. It is being told that at around 8.30 pm, the women and adolescent girls of the village had left for Matkod for the ritual of turmeric. At around 9 o’clock in the night, all the people returning from Matkod gathered near the well and started dancing and singing.
During this, a large number of women and children climbed on this slab lying on the well. The crowd started increasing due to which the slab broke and everyone fell in the well. As soon as the women fell into the well, there was an atmosphere of chaos all around. After the accident, the youth of the village started evacuating people from the well with the help of ladders and ropes. At the same time, some people informed the local police.
Ambulance did not arrive on time
After this accident in Kushinagar, a young man from the village told that many times the call was made for an ambulance. Ten people called for an ambulance from time to time, but no ambulance arrived to help. This situation was seen when a hospital exists only 3 km away from the spot. When the ambulance did not reach the spot after the accident, the injured were taken to the hospital by private jeeps and police vehicles.
The youth present at the spot at the time of the accident said that the police station and the hospital are almost at the same distance, but as soon as the information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and started the rescue operation. During the rescue operation of the police, people kept calling the ambulance, but it did not reach for help.
People present on the spot say that while the women were busy in matkor, the men were preparing for cooking. Meanwhile, everyone rushed to that side with the news of women falling in the well. People did not understand what to do. In the meantime, some young boys got down in the well with the help of rope and started evacuating women and girls. People were screaming there. The relatives were trying to find their loved ones. Within no time the police vehicle reached the village and started the rescue operation.
Family members say that they had no idea that the slab would break. However, when people were climbing on it, it was also being forbidden that the slab would break. But no one was ready to listen to anything further to see people dance.
PM Modi announced compensation
After the accident, there is an atmosphere of sorrow in the whole village.
Those who have a wedding ceremony in their house say that at present it was time for marriage and we have stopped the marriage. If people have an opinion, then only the boy will be sent for marriage and the ritual will be done.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over this accident in Kushinagar. PM Modi tweeted, ‘The accident in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh is heart-wrenching. I express my deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives in this. Along with this, I wish the injured a speedy recovery. The local administration is engaged in all possible help.
Along with this, PM Modi has announced compensation for the families of those who lost their lives in the Kushinagar accident. PM Modi said, 2 lakh rupees will be given to the injured by the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic accident in Kushinagar, 50 thousand rupees will be given to the injured.
