Uttarakhand : Who will be the Rajya Sabha candidate of BJP? Race between four veterans including former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat

After the announcement of the date of Rajya Sabha elections by the Election Commission, the future of many veterans in the BJP is at stake. In Uttarakhand, BJP can also declare a candidate outside the panel. The Election Commission has fixed June 10 as the date for Rajya Sabha elections in many states including Uttarakhand.

The tenure of Ras member Pradeep Tamta in Uttarakhand is going to end on July 4. In such a situation, the activity of possible contenders for the Rajya Sabha seat in the BJP has increased. The BJP state leadership has decided to send six names for the Ras member’s panel. Three men and three women are to be included in this.

Among the strong contenders are former CM Vijay Bahuguna, Trivendra Singh Rawat, BJP’s National Mahila Morcha General Secretary Deepti Rawat and CM. The name of former Champawat MLA Kailash Gahatodi, who left the seat for Pushkar Singh Dhami, is being discussed. After leaving the Congress in the year 2016, former CM Vijay Bahuguna is yet to get any position in the BJP.

However, the party has rewarded his son and Sitarganj MLA Saurabh Bahuguna by making him a cabinet minister. In such a situation, to avoid the allegation of familyism, BJP can also shun Bahuguna. At the same time, before March 2021, CM Trivendra Rawat is also vacant. Earlier it was believed that by making him in charge of the party, organization or any state, he would be honored but his rehabilitation was not done yet.

Now his name is also echoing for the Rajya Sabha. Party sources said that the BJP high command may also announce a candidate outside the panel this time. The name of Union Minister Piyush Goyal is in discussions in the party. He also has an old relationship with Uttarakhand. Goyal’s term in Rajya Sabha is also going to end next month.
