Uttarakhand / Almora : Manila- Barkinda pumping scheme is not getting drinking water supply 17-33-45

In the Manila-Barkinda pumping scheme of Salt, people in the market and rural areas are facing problems due to the water supply being stalled for the last few days. Due to the disruption of drinking water system, the business of businessmen of Sadar Bazar, Titauli and Sansari is being affected.

Due to non-availability of water, the business of businessmen running fast food shops in the market area has come to a standstill. Some shopkeepers have also kept their shops closed. Even the employed people have to run for water in the evening after completing the day’s work. There is no other water source for Sadar Bazar other than Manila-Barkinda pumping scheme. Local village head Bhaskaranand has demanded from the department to solve the drinking water problem at the earliest. He said that if there is no supply of water till Sunday, then from Monday, he will take to the road along with the villagers and agitate. A check-up will also be done to solve the problem.

Due to power cuts and low voltage, there is less supply of water from Manila-Barkinda Pumping Scheme. Improvement efforts are underway. Drinking water supply will be fully restored in a day or two.
