Cocaine worth ₹ 500 crore was brought to India from Iran as salt, DRI seized from Mundra Port of Adani
Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has once again confiscated 52 kg of cocaine brought from Iran by pretending to be salt at Mundra Port in Gujarat. It is being told that the cost of this drug (Cocaine Seized at Mundra Port) is up to Rs 500 crore in the international market. According to reports, this consignment was also sent to Mundra port in Gujarat via Iran route like last time. Let us tell you that during the year 2021-22, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has so far recovered cocaine worth Rs 3200 crore. A top official of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence said that they had received information that a large consignment of drugs (Cocaine Seized at Mundra Port) could be sent to India through Iran. Based on this information, a covert operation was launched by the DRI. Which was named Operation Namkeen. Based on intelligence gathered in the operation and extensive data analysis and monitoring, the DRI suspected a consignment of 25 metric tonnes of common salt that had arrived at the Mundra Port in Gujarat. The consignment of salt included 1000 bags which was imported from Iran at Mundra Port.
On the basis of suspicion, which consignment was continuously investigated by the DRI officials from May 24 to May 26, 2022. During this investigation, some bags of salt were found suspicious. Because a characteristic odorous substance was found in the form of powder in these bags. On suspicion, DRI officials took samples from these suspicious banks and got them tested in the laboratory of Directorate of Forensic Science, Gujarat. Laboratory officials, after testing, said that these bags contained cocaine. After which the search operation was started. So far 52 kg of cocaine has been recovered in this action. Following the cocaine seizure, the DRI authorities have started investigation and seizure proceedings under the provisions of the NDPS Act 1985.
Also, which company had ordered this consignment and where it was supposed to be known, a detailed investigation is being done. Keep in mind that even before this, a huge consignment of narcotic substances brought through Iran has been recovered at Mundra Port. DRI officials say that in the financial year 2021-22, the DRI had seized 321 kg of cocaine across the country. Whose price is up to 32 hundred crores in the international market. During the last few months also, the DRI has registered several important cases related to narcotics. At present, the investigation is going on in this case and the work of identification of the accused has been started.
Let us tell you that due to the recovery of cocaine brought for smuggling in huge quantity at Mundra Port of Gujarat in recent days, questions were also raised on the operator of this port, Adani Group. However, the involvement of Adani Group or any of its employees in the seizure of narcotics at the port could not come to the fore in the investigation so far. But some people believe that the recovery of narcotics at Mundra port in several consignments raises doubts on the functioning of the Adani Group, so a thorough investigation should be done in this matter and it should be found that the wrongdoing. There is no hand of any employee of many groups in this. Along with this, sandalwood worth Rs 14 crore has also been recovered from the port. In this case, along with four Pakistani boats, two Pakistani infiltrators have also been caught by the BSF jawans.
