Sonia Gandhi did not seek exemption from ED, was ready for questioning till 8 pm; Congress bid on claims of seeking relief

Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi had appeared in the ED’s office for questioning in the National Herald case. Now Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has posted a video and told what was the conversation between ED and Sonia Gandhi. Ramesh claimed that the ED told Sonia Gandhi not to ask any questions now. To this, Sonia Gandhi said that you can ask more questions. I am ready to sit even till 8 or 9 in the night. Because I have to take medicine, so tell me that you will ask questions for a day or two.

The Congress President has said that if there is any question left, then the ED can inquire on Monday. Jairam Ramesh said, in some reports, it has been said that today’s inquiry ended at the behest of the Congress President because he is a Kovid patient, these things are completely baseless. I refute this. Today’s interrogation is over as there are no more questions left with the ED. The Congress president was ready to sit all night as she was answering the ED’s questions correctly.

Sonia Gandhi was questioned for more than two hours at the ED’s office. It was being told in many reports that he had requested relief citing his illness. Thereafter the interrogation session was terminated. Congress has denied this. Let us inform that Sonia Gandhi had reached the headquarters of the Central Investigation Agency located on APJ Abdul Kalam Road amidst Z plus security.

In protest against the questioning of the Congress President, the Congress staged demonstrations not only in Delhi but in many parts of the country. Many leaders including Shashi Tharoor were also detained in Delhi. Several Congress leaders were protesting outside the ED office. Congress workers said that the Gandhi family is being implicated in false cases. The echo of the issue of summoning the Congress President was also heard in the Parliament. The opposition leaders took up the matter and on the other side there were widespread protests by party workers on the streets.

Sonia Gandhi was also questioned by the same assistant director-level investigating officer who had questioned Rahul Gandhi in the case. The probe pertains to alleged financial irregularities in a Congress-linked company ‘Young Indian Private Limited’. The company ‘Young Indian Private Limited’ owns the National Herald newspaper. Women officers were also included in the interrogation team.
