Strict action will be taken against 705 government doctors of Bihar, Health Minister Tejashwi Yadav indicated

Bihar Deputy CM and Health Minister has indicated strict action against 705 government doctors of the state. Tejashwi Yadav has claimed that there are 705 such government doctors in the state who are not coming to the hospital for more than six months, but are still getting their salary. After taking over the health department, Tejashwi Yadav said that we are going to take strict action against about 705 doctors who are absent for more than six months and withdraw government money every month. Let us inform that on October 5, Rashtriya Janata Dal shared a video on its Twitter handle. In the shared video, Tejashwi Yadav was seen saying that a doctor is not coming to the hospital for the last 12 years and is taking salary. He said that the file has now come to me. Some doctors are absent for five years and two years. My government has decided to take strict action against doctors who are absent for six months.

Tejashwi said – instead of villages, doctors are practicing in cities

Tejashwi Yadav said that many doctors posted in rural areas did not work there and instead continued to practice in urban areas. The minister said that the health department was also working on a referral policy for patients so that people are not regularly referred to hospitals in state capital Patna but are treated first at district level health facilities. Yadav said that efforts are being made for proper health infrastructure in the districts.

Ahead of Yadav’s remarks against absentee doctors, around 7,000 doctors in Bihar’s district hospitals, community health centres, primary health centers and additional primary health centers avoided outpatient department duties as a protest on Thursday. The BHSA is also demanding that the government fix daily and weekly duty hours of doctors, fill up 45% of vacant doctors posts, ensure their safety and discuss concerns with doctors before implementing the biometric attendance system.
