Uttarakhand : Chief Secretary held a review meeting of the Transport Department, CS said – special efforts are needed to prevent road accidents

Chief Secretary Dr. ss Sandhu, during the review meeting of the Transport Department at the Secretariat on Friday, directed the officers to introduce some best practices in the state according to the geographical conditions of Uttarakhand by using the latest technology from the point of view of public convenience, transport services and road safety. . Special attention should be given to Outcome Best Approach. Those who are working in the Transport Department and Transport Corporation, should be provided with a performance base incentive. It is important to raise the morale of those who do good work. The Chief Secretary said that the Transport Department would also have to pay attention to revenue growth. More efforts should be made in this direction to make online facilities accessible to the public.

The Chief Secretary directed the officers that special efforts are needed to prevent road accidents. Due to which road accidents are happening more, what action is being taken at the department level to prevent them, a full outline should be made. All the parameters should be thoroughly examined before issuing a driving license. According to the mountainous areas also, some arrangement should be made in the driving test parameters. For better progress in works, not just comparison with last one year but more focus should be given on what is ideal to improve. It should be ensured that all the works being done by the Transport Department in view of public convenience, their higher officials should be monitored regularly.

The Chief Secretary said that some important places should be identified on the Chardham Yatra routes, where proper arrangements for sleeping, eating and bathing can be made for the drivers. It should be ensured that there is no shortage on the part of the Transport Department in view of the safety of devotees and grooms. It is also necessary for the drivers to get proper facilities at the designated places for this. He directed the officers to pay special attention to the fitness of the vehicles. There should be complete arrangement of CCTV cameras at the places where the fitness test of vehicles is being done.

Secretary Transport Arvind Singh Hyanki, MD Transport Corporation Rohit Meena, Additional Secretary Transport Narendra Joshi, Joint Transport Commissioner Sanat Kumar Singh and other officers of the Transport Department were present in the meeting.
