It is also our endeavor that the legendary games of India like Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Football or ancient Malla, Gatka and Malkhamb derived from the Akharas should be recognized on the world stage. All these games that were once forgotten are becoming very famous in the country and abroad today. It is our constant endeavor that we should also do cultural enrichment work through sports so that we may have knowledge of the past and the fading genres may survive.
The Chief Minister said that he himself was also a fan of football. Uttarakhand also became a leading state in the field of sports, under this a new sports policy has been made for the promotion of sports and sportspersons in the state. Our government had started “Mukhyamantri Udyman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana” on the occasion of Sports Day-2022 and some time back it was decided to give sports scholarship to the talented budding sportspersons of the state which has been started. Under the Mukhya Mantri Udyman Khiladi Unnayan Yojna, sports scholarship of Rs. Sports scholarships are being given to 150 boys and 150 girls from every district i.e. a total of 3900 budding sportspersons of the state. The Chief Minister said that efforts are being made to make Sports College Raipur as an international level sports university. The daily allowance of sportspersons in sports hostels has been increased from Rs 175 to Rs 225 per student. Under the Mukhyamantri Swasth Yuva, Swasth Uttarakhand Yojna, the state government has made a budget provision of Rs 10 crore for open gym at the village level.
He said that a New India, a powerful India and a glorious India are being built under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today the youth of the whole country is completely with Prime Minister Modi. Like every field in the whole world, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India’s respect in sports is also increasing. Wherever there is a playground in the world, today the tricolor of India is seen waving. The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Modi took a new initiative to promote sports in the country. The Khelo India program is a good example of this thinking. Today, it has been started to identify sports talents and give them all necessary support. Better training facilities are being provided to the players. India is also emerging as a sports power. The gold and silver medals won by our players have also boosted the confidence of the country. Our players are getting respect at the world level also. The Chief Minister said that as per the expectation of Prime Minister Modi, we are making every effort to make Uttarakhand an ideal state in every field by the year 2025 and for this we are also committed. To make Devbhoomi Uttarakhand an ideal state, we have to discharge our duties with full devotion, only then with the concerted efforts of everyone we will be able to achieve our goals. On this occasion, the Chief Minister presented trophy to Garhwal Heroes, the winning team in All India Himalayan Football Cup tournament organized by MV Education Society. Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama, Special Principal Secretary Abhinav Kumar and Sports Department officials, representatives of sports associations, football as well as other players were present in the closing ceremony.
