Delhi : New fight between Kejriwal-LG, LG sacks DDC Vice President, office sealed, official vehicle seized

The tussle between the Kejriwal government and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi is coming to the fore once again. LG VK Saxena has sacked Jasmine Shah, the vice-chairperson of the Dialogue and Development Commission of Delhi (DDCD), a think tank of the Aam Aadmi Party government. Shah was accused of using government office for political purposes.

DDC works for Delhi Government in the same way as NITI Aayog works for Government of India. That is, it works to make policies and implement them.

In an order issued on Thursday evening, the LG barred Shah from using his office. Civil Lines SDM sealed the DDDC office late night on the orders of Planning Department of Delhi Government. Other facilities including government vehicle have also been withdrawn from them with effect. A complaint was lodged against him by BJP MP Pravesh Verma.

Show cause notice was given on the complaint of BJP MP
BJP MP Pravesh Verma had filed a complaint against Jasmine Shah for working as a spokesperson of the Aam Aadmi Party while holding a government post and for misuse of office. After this, the Lieutenant Governor issued a show cause notice to Shah. The order of his dismissal has been issued a month later.

Allegations of posting directors in power companies
The LG Secretariat had received a complaint regarding irregularities in the power subsidy given to Delhi government’s BSES discoms. The complainant had alleged that Jasmine Shah and Naveen Gupta, son of AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP ND Gupta, had perpetrated a big scam.

There were also allegations that the Kejriwal government had appointed directors of Anil Ambani Group’s private discoms, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL). The Delhi government holds 49 per cent stake in these private discoms.
